A MAN has been jailed after spitting during an attack on police in Hereford.
Bernard Slota entered a guilty plea when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster on March 24.
The court heard the 24-year-old had assaulted a police officer acting in the course of their duties by beating in Hereford on March 22.
Magistrates said the offence was serious as it was a nasty assault on a police officer which involved a risk of infection during the Covid-19 pandemic due to Slota spitting.
Slota, of Ustrzyki Dolne, Poland, was jailed for six weeks. He must also pay a £122 victim surcharge.
