Drunk man hurled abuse at police in Hereford car park

Joshua David Holland entered a guilty plea when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford. 

Police had spotted Holland and others in a car park behind Radcliffe Court in Tupsley on May 15, prosecutor Shafquat Reaz said.

Officers, who said Holland was slurring his words and unsteady on his feet, spoke to the group and asked them to leave, but Holland did not, instead swearing at police.

The 18-year-old was warned to stop, but was arrested after he continuing to swear at officers.

Holland was taken to Hereford Police Station, where he became agitated and aggressive towards the custody sergeant and carried on shouting and swearing.

Speaking on his own behalf, Holland said he did not know why he had got himself into such a state.

"I had been drinking that night with mates but I don't know how many I had or what happened," he said.

Holland, of Widemarsh Street, Hereford, was fined £40. He must also pay costs of £70 and a £34 victim surcharge.
