THE bomb squad has been scrambled to Ross-on-Wye after it was believed a 1940s bullet was found.
The Army's bomb disposal team were called to the south Herefordshire town yesterday (Friday) after the item was reported to West Mercia Police.
It is believed a 1940s bullet was found in the Lakeside Drive area, and the Army said "at no time was there any danger to local residents".
An Army spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a team from the Army’s 721 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Squadron was called out by Herefordshire Police to an address in Ross-on-Wye today (Friday, July 2).
"The item of ordnance was safely removed from the site.
“At no time was there any danger to local residents and we thank the public for their patience.
"We always advise the public that if they inadvertently disturb what they believe to be live ordnance, they should contact their local police force as a matter of urgency.”

11 EOD and Search Regiment Royal Logistic Corps is the British Army's specialist unit responsible for improvised explosive device and conventional munitions disposal.
The Regiment also inspects and licences ammunition storage and enforces explosives safety regulations.
721 EOD Squadron is based at St Barbara’s Barracks in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire.
