THE final stage of the covid roadmap is getting closer and announcements regarding restrictions have been constant this week.
Yesterday afternoon, transport secretary Grant Schapps announced that double vaccinated Brits can travel abroad to Amber List without quarantine from 19th July.
Holidaymakers still have to test before they take their flight and return to the UK, whilst also following the travel rules of the other country.
Local travel agents ‘All season’s travel’ is unsure many clients booking for this summer.
Director David Mills said: “We are extremely hopefully, however realistically 2022 we will receive more business when protocols are eased and all destinations are accessible,”
He went on to say that the travel industry have taken a hit during the pandemic across the globe.
Mr Mills said: “The entire travel industry has been massively effected financially for well over a year now, and it has been so upsetting to see travel business' having to cease trading, and although travel agents have received government help i.e furlough and local business grants, we are desperate for further help going forward.”
Hereford Times’ digital reporter Hattie Young spoke to Director of Public Health for Herefordshire Rebecca Howell-Jones about whether she thinks the government have made the right decision regarding travel covid restrictions and the final stage of the roadmap. She said the most important thing people can do is get vaccinated.
She went on to say Coronavirus has not gone away and encourages people t continue to wear a mask in public places or we will see a rise in cases in the county.
