I'M afraid Gary Cullen is a little out when describing Holme Lacy Bridge of 1972 as the first eastern crossing.
The current bridge replaced one built in the mid 19th century which I used as a child, cycling from Fownhope to Holme Lacy.
When the new bridge was built our parish sadly lost the Anchor Inn, which had been the meeting place for the local Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes Lodge.
