A DRINK-DRIVER was caught behind the wheel while more than twice the limit in a Herefordshire country lane.
Tim Anthony Office admitted drink-driving when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.
Police were on patrol near Shooters Bar in Leominster when they spotted Office's Vauxhall Astra being driven out of town at 1.40am on July 4, prosecutor Melanie Winterflood said.
Officers decided to follow the car as it left the town and their suspicions were raised as it turned into Green Lane, which officers felt was an unusual route to be taking as it avoided main roads.
Office was pulled over and admitted he had had a drink at about 10pm that night. He was arrested after failing a roadside breath test.
An evidential test in custody revealed he had 83 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

George Cousins, for Office, said a mandatory roads ban would have a huge impact on the 22-year-old.
"The route he took would not seem odd to me, but it was the night of the football and it was a disappointing night all round," Mr Cousins said.
Office, of Moor Meadow, Shobdon, was disqualified from driving for 20 months and fined £750. He must also pay costs of £135 and a £75 victim surcharge.
