HEREFORD'S biggest nightclub says it was a "truly memorable" week when it reopened after 16 months.
Coronavirus restrictions were eased on July 19, paving the way for Play Nightclub Hereford to fully reopen its doors for the first time since March 2020.
The club had been open as a "night pub" since the spring where table service was in force, but clubbers have since been allowed back on the dancefloor.
Pictures from inside the Blue School Street club showed clubbers dancing away on the first Saturday night they've been allowed to do so since the first coronavirus lockdown in March 2020.
Play’s general manager Chris Green said: “It was an amazing week for Play Hereford, with a full house most nights.
"Having waited so long, it was great to see our beautiful refurbished club in action and even more exciting to see our guests enjoying our dance floors again.
"A truly memorable week and a massive start back for clubbing in Hereford.”
REKOM UK, the company which owns play, questioned Prime Minister Boris Johnson's leadership over plans to enforce Covid vaccine passports on club doors from September.
Peter Marks, chief executive of Rekom UK, which owns 42 nightclubs including chains Pryzm, Eden and Fiction, as well as Blue School Street's Play, said he felt "utter disbelief" after hearing Mr Johnson's plans for clubs later this year.
Mr Marks said he will be "making the case" to the Government that the nightclub industry should not be treated separately from the rest of the society and he wants to work with it to look at how clubs can operate in a "risk-assessed and balanced way".
