Taurus Healthcare, sponsors of the Care Home Worker of the Year Award, is the GP Federation for Herefordshire.
We are proud to support GPs to provide high quality care to over 190,000 people across Herefordshire.
The Federation is owned by all of the General Practices in Herefordshire and is run by them. Established in 2012, we support practices to work together to deliver better and more resilient services for patients locally. This includes delivering clinical services that they wouldn’t individually be able to provide – for example Improved Access Services (for appointments when GP surgeries are closed) and Out of Hours support.
More recently, we’ve also worked closely with practices to plan, coordinate and deliver the highly successful COVID vaccination programme throughout Herefordshire.
As well as the delivery of clinical services, Taurus supports Herefordshire General Practice in two additional ways.
– We provide support to local practices, for example by helping with recruitment, managing staff, providing business intelligence and management support.
– We represent the views of General Practice at local health and care meetings. In this way, we ensure care is shaped around the needs of our local population.
We believe that General Practice is the cornerstone of our health and care system, providing holistic care to individuals and families to live independent, healthy, fulfilled lives.
By working together as a federation, we aim to provide Herefordshire patients with access to co-ordinated general practice services across 24 hours, seven days each week.
