A PIZZA company won't be providing takeaways in a Herefordshire village after staff were told to self-isolate by the NHS Covid-19 app.
Mother Earth Pizza was meant to be at Orleton village hall this evening, in north Herefordshire, but a notification from the app means staff must self-isolate for seven days.
The firm, based in Ludlow, was meant to be providing takeaway pizzas from the village hall as one of its pop-up events.
But it said it was "totally gutted" after being forced to cancel the next week's events.
"We have unfortunately been pinged by NHS track and trace and told to isolate for seven days," a post on the company's Facebook page said.
"It is with great regret we are having to cancel our pop up events over the next seven days but it is the responsible thing to do.
"We’re so sorry we’re not going to be able to provide you with pizzas we’re totally gutted but we’ll be back serving soon."
The firm said it was trying to contact customers who had pre-ordered pizzas for tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow to let them know.
Across England and Wales, nearly 396,000 alerts were sent to Covid app users in seven days to July 28 – down 43 per cent on the previous week.
There has also been a significant drop in the number of check-ins to venues using the app.
There were 2.4 million check-ins in the week to July 28 in England and Wales – 65 per cent fewer than in the previous seven days.
