A man has been fined after police found him carrying cannabis in a Herefordshire town centre.
Ben Andrew Hammond, 23, was stopped by police in Leominster shortly after midnight on July 21 in relation to a separate matter not disclosed in court.
Hereford magistrates court was told by prosecution barrister Shafquat Reaz how officers found the cannabis, with a street value of around £5, and a grinder after Hammond was searched.
Defence solicitor Marilena Di Vitantonio said Hammond, of Havelock Road in Leominster, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and accepted in police interview that the drugs were his.
She said Hammond had bought the cannabis earlier that day with the intention of smoking it, but he was not a regular user.
Appearing in court on Wednesday (August 11), Hammond was fined £80, told to pay costs of £185 and a £34 victim surcharge for one count of possession of a class B drug.
