POLICE officers have defended themselves for tackling the issue of speeding drivers near Hereford.
West Mercia Police said some people thought that officers did speed enforcement to "target motorists to raise revenue" through fines.

But officers said they did speed enforcement in response to community concerns, adding: Those who flout speed limits don't always abide by other legislation."
It said officers were in Marden, near Hereford, on Tuesday (September 7) after concerns about parents speeding on their way to drop their children off at school.

There, officers pulled over a blue Ford Fiesta for speeding, but then found the driver was uninsured.
They reported the driver for both offences and seized the car.
Officers added: "We will continue to listen to our communities and tackling those problems that matter to you."
