A developer aims to increase the supply of affordable homes in the county with a bid to build 33 on the edge of a village.
Harper Group Construction, which has a premises in Leominster, is seeking permission to develop a 1.75-hectare field immediately east of Canon Pyon, eight miles northwest of Hereford.
It says it intends 21 of the homes would be for “social, affordable or intermediate rent” with the remaining 12 being for affordable sale.
While the number of bedrooms of each has yet to be specified, all would be semi-detached, with 27 being two-storey and six single-storey. Each would have two car parking spaces.
An accompanying statement by Zebra Architects of Worcester says the buildings would “be traditional style to compliment the local vernacular”.
Planting around the development “will reflect the rural nature of the site”, while a drainage package treatment plan will further contribute to green infrastructure, the architects said.
The site is one of four around the village allocated for development within the local neighbourhood development plan, adopted in 2017.
This describes Canon Pyon as “a very attractive proposition to develop as a way of increasing the more affordable end of housing numbers in Herefordshire”.
Consultation on the plan closes on 14 October, with a decision expected by 30 November.
