WHEN the weekend comes it's always nice to mark it with a pint of beer.

Fortunately, Herefordshire is a place with a range of breweries and microbreweries across the county. All offering a variety of local beers.

Here are six local breweries whose ales you really should try!

Swan Brewery

A microbrewery based in Leominster. Swan Brewery was set up in 2015 and has a wide selection of ales and lagers to chose from, offering cask conditioned, bottled and and canned ales.

An online review said: "Really great selection of beers with interesting back stories."

Wye Valley Brewery

This Herefordshire-based brewer has been open since 1985. It offers a range of ales and released it first lager in 2016. Its beers are served in more than 1,200 pubs across the West Midlands and South Wales.

One satisfied reviewer said: "I can genuinely say the last pint tasted as good as the first."

Wobbly Brewing Company

This Hereford-based microbrewery offers a range of beers for craft ale enthusiasts. It offers Wobbly Gold and Wobbly Amber, among other beers.

One reviewer said: "Awesome brewery producing some terrific beers, try the Kraken!"

After the Harvest Brewing

Another Hereford-based brewery. After The Harvest is a cuckoo brewery making traditional beer for Hereford Beer House, as well as mixed fermentation beers for the wider beer drinking community.

A reviewer on Untappd, the beer review and networking app, described their farmhouse ale as amazing.

Ledbury Real Ales

Established in 2012, Ledbury Real Ales is focused on producing a small range of cask-conditioned real ales. Its beers are sold mainly within a 15-mile radius of the brewery, allowing the firm to meet its aim of creating a local product for a local market.

An online review said it had a great range of beer using local ingredients.

The Weobley Brewing Company

Established in 2018. This north Herefordshire brewery's output comes in bottles and is sold in several outlets in the county.

The brewery's beers and ales were described by one reviewer as amazing.
