6.36pm update: The road is has now reopened
The A465, a major road linking Herefordshire with Wales, has been shut by police this afternoon (Saturday) after a crash.
The A465 has been closed in both directions between Pandy and Llangua, just outside Abergavenny.
At this time, it is not known how many vehicles were involved, though it is believed to have happened early this afternoon.
The emergency services, including Gwent Police, are in attendance.
There is some suggestion that the air ambulance was also called out.
Gwent Police confirmed that they were called to reports of an accident, but have issued no further updates at this time.
Traffic Wales reported that the road closure has led to congestion in the surrounding areas, as drivers have been diverted elsewhere.
The A465 is a key route connecting Hereford with Abergavenny in Monmouthshire across the Welsh border.
Stagecoach South Wales reported that this closure was affecting their services this afternoon.
There is some suggestion that the road may be reopened shortly before 5pm, but this has yet to be confirmed.
