A HEREFORDSHIRE couple were one of the first to land in Las Vegas on Friday on the first transatlantic flight in 20 months.
Ian and Trudy Davies, of Lower Bullingham, Hereford, arrived in McCarran International Airport on a Virgin Atlantic flight Monday afternoon where they were getting by a pair of waving showgirls, TV crews and the local press on the airfield.
"We felt like celebrities," said Mr Davies.
The 11 hour flight from London's Heathrow arrived in Las Vegas as the U.S. fully lifted restrictions on travel that covered most of Europe and reopened its borders with Mexico and Canada on Monday.
The pair were photographed inside as they walked through the airport accompanied by a full flight of other holidaymakers, some waiting to be reunited with family.
Trudy ended up on the front page of the local newspaper.
The trip was long overdue for the couple as it was first booked for Mr Davies' 50th and had been postponed twice.
"We have been many times before.
"It is one of our favourite places."
Virgin had recommended the couple pick a date for when next to go.
It was only chance that they picked November 8.
After such a long wait, they are excited to be back on holiday, said Mr Davies.
"It is absolutely brilliant."
The pair are driving up to Los Angeles after their time in Las Vegas.
