THE main road through a village in the Golden Valley will be closed from today (Monday) until Saturday.
Herefordshire Council said the B4348 near Peterchurch would be closed from 9pm tonight until 6am on Saturday.
It said the closure was needed so Openreach could carry out work, with an official diversion of more than 28 miles.
The diversion will be via Dorstone and Hardwicke, across to Bredwardine, Madley and Clehonger, and back towards Peterchurch via Kingstone and Vowchurch.
During the closure, from Cross Lodge to Poston Mill Park, Openreach will carry out new customer connection works, Herefordshire Council said.
At the same time, there will also be temporary traffic lights on the C1195 from the B4348 to Woodfield Cottage
It is understood diversions must be via the same classification of road. It means because the B4348 is an B-road, the diversion must also be via B-roads.
