December is here again and Leominster is getting in the festive mood with a host of events, many returning after a year's absence due to the Covid pandemic.
Leominster Victorian Market
The Victorian market takes place along Corn Square and Broad Street on December 11 from 9am to 4pm.
The market is held in Leominster every year, with a wide variety of stallholders in traditional Victorian dress.
Bagpiper Keith Wellings will also be performing throughout the day
Free parking is provided in Herefordshire Council car parks at Broad Street, Dishley Street, Etnam Street and the central area car park, which can be accessed from Burgess Street and West Street.
Through the Wardrobe
Also returning this year is Through the Wardrobe. Taking place on December 18 from 6pm to 8.30pm.
Children can step through the wardrobe and enter the mystical land of magic, mythical beasts and talking animals.
They will be able to wander through a secret garden and meet Father Christmas himself.
It’s free ticketed entry for Leominster residents only and they are available to collect in person from Leominster Tourist Information Centre in Corn Square, which is open from 9.30am to 4pm.
Christmas Market
Corn Square will host the Christmas market from December 21 to 24.
Many seasonal gifts will be available to buy at the market stalls for some late Christmas shopping.
Croft Castle
Families can enjoy some festive stories read by Father Christmas on December 11, 12, 18 and 19 in the dining room of the castle and receive a small present at the end.
These will be group storytelling sessions, each one will last for approximately 30 minutes.
Booking is essential as spaces are limited. Tickets are £4 and can be booked by ringing 01568 780246.
Also taking place at Croft Castle, in Yarpole, over December is Percy the Park Keeper's winter wander trail.
Families will be able to help Percy and his animal friends and give nature a helping hand, all while exploring the castle's gardens.
Booking is not needed for this event, but a £2 admission fee applies.
Berrington Hall
Visitors can step back in time this Christmas and discover how the Georgians would have celebrated the festive season as Berrington Hall hosts 'Christmas with the Georgians'.
Explore the servants' spaces before heading upstairs to the ground floor, where you'll be surrounded by traditional decorations and a dazzling Christmas tree in the staircase hall
The stately home, just outside of Leominster, is also putting on horse and carriage rides on first three weekends of December.
The event is free and booking is not needed.
Carols by Candlelight
Hosted by Leominster Priory Church on December 20 at 7pm.
The programme is a mix of well-known classics and some more unusual pieces, as well as carols for everyone to sing.
Tickets are £8 and free to under 18s, and can be booked online here.
