A ROAD near Ross-on-Wye will have to be closed for a day as an old railway bridge is inspected, Herefordshire Council has said.
The lane between Ballingham and the road from Bolstone to Holme Lacy, the C1267, will be shut on Wednesday, January 5.
In a public notice, Herefordshire Council said it was for bridge examination works, with an old railway bridge crossing the road.
Because of the likelihood of danger to the public, the council said the road had to be closed.
The Hereford, Ross and Gloucester railway was closed to passengers in 1964, as part of the widespread Beeching cuts that aimed to improve the efficiency of Britain’s rail network
