AN AXE-WIELDING man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after an attack in a Herefordshire village.
Darren Wyatt entered guilty pleas when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.
The court heard the 49-year-old had assaulted a woman in Almeley, Herefordshire, on July 5.
He had also been in possession of an offensive weapon, a splitting axe, and had intentionally damaged a vehicle belonging to another person on the same date.
Wyatt, of Nieuport House Lane, Almeley, was handed a 12-month community order and restraining order, 150 hours of unpaid work, and must pay £100 compensation to the victim. The axe was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
He must also pay costs of £185 and a £95 victim surcharge.
