IN RESPONSE to: Festive Work, Letters, December 16.
James Mclelland asserts that McDonald's restaurants opening on Christmas Day is a travesty.
What a shame that he had not done his homework before writing such a one-sided opinion.
McDonald’s on Christmas Day will cater worldwide for many thousands of people, most of whom would be home alone on Christmas Day or cannot afford £75 for a hotel lunch.
The joy of hot food to eat in or take away, together with a cheery word from the staff will probably be the only contact with the outside world – the highlight of their day.
Likewise, motorway service areas will all be open for Christmas Day catering for many thousands of people on their own.
Also, in our multi-cultural society, many people do not celebrate Christmas.
