PEOPLE in Herefordshire have shared pictures of the loved ones they have lost as their planned vigil is cancelled due to rising numbers of Omicron coronavirus cases.
The candle-lit vigil was due to be held in Hereford to remember those lost to the pandemic.
This was due to coincide with nationwide vigils in memory of those who have died during the on-going pandemic by members of the Covid19familiesUK network.
"Unfortunately, due to the worryingly rapid increase in the Omicron variant we have taken the sad decision to postpone the vigil at Hereford Cathedral on December 23," said member and organiser Emma Lewis.
It is looking at a new date of March 23, which is the national day for bereavement, that will once again coincide with events held nationwide and organised by the Covid-19 Families groups.
The names will then be read out in a way that will give them the dignity they all deserved but were so often denied, said Ms Lewis.
Instead, they are asking that bereaved families have their own doorstep vigils on December 23 to remember the over 170,000 lives lost.
People will place a photo of their loved ones in their window and yellow hearts or yellow ribbons in their gardens.
Families and individuals have also sent in photos of their lost loved ones to share in their memory.
Covid19familiesUK have already started to gather names of those lost within Hereford to Covid-19 and will continue to do so until the vigil in March.
