FLOOD warnings are in place in Herefordshire due to heavy and persistent rain yesterday (Saturday).

The Environment Agency have this morning released flood warnings for two rivers in Herefordshire - with more rain expected this morning.

The River Arrow and River Frome have both risen with flood warnings in place.

OTHER NEWS: 

The River Arrow is expected to flood between Michaelchurch and Brierley which may affect Kington, Staunton and Eardisland.

The River Frome is expected to flood from Bromyard to Hereford.

This may affect Bishops Frome and Yarkhill.

River Arrow

River levels have risen as a result of heavy rainfall.

Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected today (Sunday).

The Environment Agency said: "We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Arrow from Michaelchurch to Brierley.

"Other areas that may be affected include Kington, Staunton and Eardisland. We expect river levels to remain high over the next few days.

"We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and avoid contact with flood water."

River Frome

River levels have risen at the Bishops Frome and Yarkhill river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rain.

Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible this morning (Sunday).

The Environment Agency said: "We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Frome from Bromyard to Hereford.

"Other locations that may be affected include Bishops Frome and Yarkhill. Further rainfall is forecast over the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
