HEREFORDSHIRE may not be a crime hotbed, but thousands of offences have been reported in the county through 2021.

We have taken a look at all of the 5,824 crimes reported in the county over a six-month period between March and August this year.

Violent and sexual offences

The most reported crimes in Herefordshire were violent and sexual offences, with 3,059 offences reported in the county.

This category can include physical and sexual assaults, wounding, and murder.

The most reports (316) were made Hereford's central area, which covers the County Hospital, Edgar Street, the Old Market, High Town, and St James.

Public order

Next on the list were public order offences, with 627 offences reported across the county.

These can range from riot, violent order, and affray, to causing intentional harassment, alarm, and distress.

The most reports (88) were made in Hereford's central area.

Criminal damage and arson

In third place is criminal damage and arson, with 608 offences reported.

This category includes damage caused to property by fires and other methods.

The most reports (42) were made in Hereford's central area.

Other theft

A total of 490 'other' thefts were reported in Herefordshire.

This category does not include shoplifting, bicycle theft, and theft from the person, which are separately listed.

The most reports (45) were made in Hereford's central area.

Burglary

271 burglaries were reported in the county.

The definition covers the act of entering a building as a trespasser with intent to commit a crime.

The most reports (17) were made in Hereford's central area.

Drugs

Drugs offences were next on the list, with 187 offences reported in Herefordshire.

The category can include possession and supplying of drugs.

The most reports (25) were made in Hereford's central area.

Shoplifting

Shoplifting offences totalled 182 across the county.

The offence covers thefts from shops and differs from burglary.

The most reports (49) were made in Hereford's central area.

Vehicle crime

142 vehicle crimes were reported in Herefordshire.

These include vehicle thefts, taking vehicles without consent, and theft from a vehicle.

The most reports (six) were made in in Hereford's central area and in the Garway, Orcop, Harewood End, and St Owen's Cross area.

Other crime

Unclassified 'other crime' accounted for 116 reports.

The most reports (nine) were made in the Whitecross Road area of Hereford.

Bicycle theft

A total of 56 bicycles were reported stolen in Herefordshire.

The most reports (15) were made in Hereford's central area.

Possession of weapons

Weapons possession offences were relatively low on the list, with just 46 reports.

The offence can include everything from seemingly innocent objects being carried with the intention of usig them as a weapon to knives and firearms.

The most reports (eight) were made in Hereford's central area.

Theft from the person

Thefts from the person were next, with 25 reports made in Herefordshire.

The offence includes pickpocketing.

The most reports (14) were made in Hereford's central area.

Robbery

Just 12 robberies were reported in the county over the period.

The offence differs from theft in that force is used to steal items.

The most reports (two) were made in Leominster's central area, which covers South Street, High Street, Burgess Street, The Grange, Etnam Street, and Worcester Road, and the Waterfield Road, Westholme Road, and Treago Grove area of Hereford.

Anti-social behaviour

Three reports of anti-social behaviour were made in the county.

From littering, noise nuisance, and rowdy behaviour to street drinking, begging, and misuse of fireworks, anti-social behaviour covers a range of offences.

The most reports (two) were made in the Dorstone, Hay-on-Wye, Whitney-on-Wye and Bredwardine area.
