WEST Mercia Police say they are cracking down on problem parkers near Hereford, including by slapping drivers with fines.
Officers said they were working hard to tackle the parking concerns in Withington and Whitestone, east of Hereford.
"Inconsiderate or illegal parking can put pedestrians and other road users in danger," PC Josh Kitchen said.
"It can also create an obstruction for emergency vehicles."
"While some enforcement activity is carried out jointly with partners, Herefordshire Council employ parking enforcement officers to assist with these issues.
"But often problems can be resolved through raising awareness of the impact or consequences or other practical measures."
He said police had been talking to and educuating drivers, as well as with council parking wardens over the concerns in the villages.
PC Kitchen also said parking fines had been given out, and police have been working with other agencies to find off-road parking, particularly near schools.
On Saturday, he said police have received a report of a van parked on the footpath in Southbank, Withington, on Saturday and it was creating a obstruction.
Police said the own was aware and was going to move the van, a white Volkswagen Transporter.
"We would like to remind vehicle owners to act responsibly and park considerately taking into account other road users and pedestrians," PC Kitchen added.
"Many thanks for your help and support. It is only by the police and the public working together that we can effectively both prevent and detect crime and keep our communities safe."
