AN INJURED walker has been rescued from a hill on the Herefordshire border after she fell.
Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, based in Abergavenny, said it was crucial that they were at the scene quickly as the weather was windy and cold.
Hypothermia can develop into a "very serious risk", the team made up of volunteers said after the rescue on the Sugarloaf, between Hereford and Abergavenny.
The team, which relies on donations to carry out its work, said it was called by Gwent Police to reports of a regular and experienced mountain walker slipping on the walk down from the summit.

She had a lower leg injury but by chance, a member of the mountain rescue team was on the hill enjoying an early run so was able to get to the casualty quickly and start providing shelter.
"This was crucial as yesterday was an exceptionally windy and cold day, and hypothermia can develop into a very serious risk in these circumstances," the mountain rescue team said.
"We rapidly had more team members on the hill, providing warmth, treatment and pain relief to the casualty before we stretchered the injured lady off the hill."
