A HEREFORDSHIRE fare dodger has been handed a hefty penalty after getting on a train without buying a ticket.
Kieron Williams was proven guilty in his absence by magistrates in Worcester.
The court heard the 26-year-old had been caught travelling on a Great Western Railway train at Pershore without having purchased a ticket and with intent to avoid paying his £3.40 fare on April 23.
Williams, of Barnett Avenue, Ledbury was fined £220 and must pay compensation of £3.40, costs of £180 and a £34 victim surcharge.
