TWO MORE Herefordshire primary schools are partially closed this week.

Herefordshire Council said two classes would be closed on January 20 and 21 due to rising coronavirus case numbers at Leominster's Ivington Primary School, with families asked to continue to carry out lateral flow tests before returning to school on January 24.

In a letter to parents on Tuesday this week, the school said there were confirmed cases of coronavirus in each of their classes.

"In school we continue to seek advice from Public Health relating to any outbreaks we might experience and carry out various contingency measures," the school said.

"Our staff have been undertaking more frequent tests for some time now and we are still not holding whole-school indoor activities. Please be aware that we are also making sure the school building is well ventilated; continuing with frequent washing of hands and use of hand gel; and we are still carrying out additional cleaning"

The council also said years five and six at Stoke Prior Primary School will be closed from January 19, with the aim of re-opening on January 24.

The school is not alone in sending pupils home this week, with Lugwardine and St Francis Xavier schools also announcing partial closures.
