A HEREFORDSHIRE driver has been banned from the roads after going out for Christmas drinks.
Finnley Jago Joyce admitted drink-driving when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.
Joyce had been seen behind the wheel of a silver Vauxhall Astra in Hereford's Kings Acre Road at 3am on December 23, prosecutor Shafquat Reaz said.
Officers pulled him over, and Joyce, who they reported made quite clear indications that he had been drinking, was arrested after failing a roadside breath test. An evidential test in custody revealed he had 74 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
George Cousins, for Joyce, said the 24-year-old had fully cooperated at the scene and had entered a guilty plea at the first opportunity.
"He is ashamed and says it was poor judgement after going out for Christmas drinks," Mr Cousins said.
"He did have a job lined up which required him to drive, but he has now found another job."
Joyce, of Ecroyd Park, Credenhill, was disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined £330. He must also pay costs of £135 and a £34 victim surcharge.
