A HEREFORDSHIRE speeder has escaped a roads ban after magistrates heard it would cause him to lose his home and business.
David Edward Brooks was proven guilty by magistrates in Hereford.
The court heard the 50-year-old had been caught speeding behind the wheel of a Ford in a temporary 40 miles per hour zone on the A40 at Whitchurch on April 8.
Brooks, of Cawdor Arch, Ross-on-Wye, was fined £153 and received three penalty points, and must pay costs of 90 and a £34 victim surcharge.
Magistrates said there would be no totting discharge as a roads ban would cause exceptional hardship, as it would cause Brooks to lose his business, and the loss of his family home, while his partner's son requires Brooks to drive him to rugby weekly.
