A BRAND new care home has opened its doors in Herefordshire, and it is now ready to welcome its first residents.
Deer Park Care Home, in Martins Way, Ledbury, is offering residential, nursing, and dementia care in what it says are exceptional surroundings.
The home, which can care for up to 64 residents in private ensuite rooms, will also offer residents facilities such as a café, library, gym, and cinema.
The home opened on Tuesday, with the first residents due towards the end of the week, a spokesperson for Porthaven, the company behind the new venture, said.
Marie Wood, Deer Park Care Home’s manager, said she was looking forward to welcoming new residents but also to establish the home as an integral part of the Ledbury community.
She said: “I am extremely passionate about quality care for older people and something that drives me is the knowledge that my team and I are making a positive difference in the lives of our residents each day.
“I am also looking forward to meeting new people and welcoming them into our home – whether they are our residents, relatives, our staff, or the local community – all will be welcome here.
“I hope that we can build a shared community in Ledbury and I cannot wait to see what the future brings.”
Porthaven described itself as an award-winning care home group, with its headquarters in the Berkshire town of Windsor.
Its story began in April 2010 when it opened its first care home in Cheshire, and now 12 years later it runs 18 across England.
“Porthaven has established itself as one of the leading care providers in the country, with beautifully designed homes run professionally, responsibly and most importantly, with integrity and care,” a spokesperson said.
“Every one of our homes offers residential, nursing and dementia care provided by a large team of well-trained and qualified people profoundly concerned with every single resident’s welfare and happiness.”
Before it opened, Ledbury Mayor Andrew Manns was given a tour of the new home on February 5 by the manager Ms Wood.
