A BARN on a Herefordshire border farm has gone up in flames, but fire crews say all people and animals were accounted for.
Firefighters from Kington joined colleagues from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service in Presteigne to battle the blaze in Cascob, with the farm building "well alight" on arrival.
But the Hereford and Worcester service crew from Kington said there was a "handy" brook running across the drive so water supply was not an issue.
"Crews wearing breathing apparatus, ground monitors and jets were used to quickly extinguish the flames meaning crews could back to bed for a few hours sleep before work in the morning", a spokesperson for the station said after the fire at 10.44pm on Tuesday.
A fire service spokesperson added: "A barn, around 30m x 30m, was well alight with the fire fought using four hosereel jets and two main jets, supported by two light portable pumps set into open water.
"Six firefighters used breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera was also deployed. All persons and animals were accounted for."
