- A slow first half saw Southport have the better of the early exchanges with the opening chance on 14 minutes falling to Lewis Mansell who sent his free header over.
- Adam Anson was next to go close having a free header which was easily saved by goalkeeper Andreas Sondergaard.
- Sondergaard was also forced into action early in the second half to deny Dylan Vassallo with his feet from a shot across his goalmouth.
- A tight game opened up on the 50th minute when referee Ross Martin judged Ben Pollock to have handled the ball as it cannoned around the penalty spot.

- Hereford manager Josh Gowling says his side have missed holding midfielder Ryan Lloyd who has been out with a back injury.
- The 28-year-old who began his career at Port Vale is in his second season with the Bulls but has missed the last three matches injured.
