A HEREFORDSHIRE horse trainer has tasted success at Cheltenham Festival today (Wednesday).
Venetia Williams, based at stables at Aramstone, trained L’Homme Presse who won the Brown Advisory Novices Chase
Ridden by jockey Charlie Deutsch the horse recorded a three and a half length win.
L’Homme Presse was sent off the 9/4 favourite in the absence of pre-race fancy Bravemansgame and the Herefordshire runner was always travelling smoothly at the head of the field and easily repelled his challengers over the final three fences.
In the aftermath of the race Deutsch said: “He makes it so easy for me.
“He felt comfortable the whole way. It’s wonderful to get a big winner at Cheltenham, an absolute dream.
"Venetia has done such a great job with him.”
Williams, recording another big-race success confirmed she had no doubts over her horses stamina in the rain softened ground.
She paid tribute to Deutsch’s ride.
She said: “Charlie as I’ve always said is a fantastic rider, and he did everything right, he took it up when the other lead horse wasn’t going.
"He’s a big rangy horse and we wanted to let him race as usual.”
Later in the day Williams trained Funambule Sivola finished second in the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase behind Energumene.
Jockey Deutsch again took charge of the Herefordshire trained horse.
