General manager Josh Palmer thanked the team at the Flyford and the loyal support of its customers.

He said: "We were thrilled to be announced the winner of Pub of the Year from Visit Worcestershire.

"It's great with it being such a local award and that we were able to celebrate it with other local hospitality businesses.

"We have been through the toughest of circumstances in the last couple of years.

"This is a huge achievement for us and can’t wait to see what is next.

"Big things are to come and we look forward to the future here at the Flyford."

The Flyford was up against three other pubs in the category which also included the Hadley Bowling Green, near Claines, and the Fox and Hounds at Lulsley.

A mystery diner came into the restaurant, which is between Worcester and Evesham, for a meal.

Mr Palmer said: "They said they enjoyed the atmosphere and obviously the food.

"It feels great to win another award and it just shows we are going in the right direction

"I'm definitely proud of everyone.

"We are always busy, at weekends you have to book, especially in summer.

"We like to create a relaxed atmosphere and obviously we are in the countryside which gives a nice feel to the place."

There is a vegetable garden where they can get fresh, seasonal veg and they offer pub classics as well as fish couriered fresh from Cornwall every day.

The pub is owned by Dave Sanders and his daughter Morgan runs Toast, a breakfast and brunch restaurant, next door.

Toast has just had an American school bus set up next to its restaurant for diners to sit inside.
