A MAN has been jailed after he was caught in Hereford with an eight-inch kitchen knife.
Anthony Stephens was proven guilty in his absence by magistrates in Hereford.
The court heard the 39-year-old had been in possession of a kitchen knife with an eight-inch blade without good reason or lawful authority at Hereford's Aylestone Hill on August 23.

The court heard Stephens, who was already behind bars, had chosen not to attend court from prison and so no mitigation had been heard by his choice.
Magistrates said the offence was serious because of his previous record of offending and because of the nature of the knife offence, and Stephens, of Oxford Grove, Birmingham, was jailed for six months.
The knife was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
