A HEREFORD company has pledged to help refugees forced out of Ukraine by Russian aggression.
They have been particularly distressed to see in newspapers and on television screens, the suffering of ordinary men, women, and children – all innocent victims of the Russian invasion.
Ultrafilter Medical, a Ross-on-Wye manufacturer of medical facemasks, will give £2,000 to the recently launched Help for Refugees Appeal.
The Herefordshire Community Foundation, in partnership with the Hereford Times started the appeal in March to fund the transport of essential goods from Herefordshire to where they are needed.
Any extra money will go towards the resettlement of refugees from Ukraine within Herefordshire.
The appeal has been organised by the Herefordshire Community Foundation, which is committed to raising funds for the 2.5 million people who have recently fled Ukraine.
Dean Kronsbein, founder and chairman of Ultrafilter Medical and owner of Ultrafilter Group, said: “Like most people, I have been extremely moved by recent global events.
“The humanitarian crisis that is unfolding in front of our eyes is deeply concerning and I wanted to do whatever I could.
“The Help for Refugees Appeal is a great way for local people to donate much needed funds securely and with the confidence that all their money will get to precisely where it is needed.”
It is hoped that the pledge from Ultrafilter Medical will encourage more people to donate to the Help for Refugees Appeal and in turn support the men, women, children, families, and communities who have all been deeply impacted by war.
Frank Myers MBE, chairman of Herefordshire Community Foundation said: “I am extremely pleased that our latest inward investor Ultrafilter Medical has chosen to back our campaign with a generous donation and to kick start this worthy and urgent cause.
“I hope that the Herefordshire business community will choose to follow this lead and help us generate the much-needed funds.”
The Herefordshire Community Foundation has over 20 years’ experience providing a secure channel for charitable donations.
Working with donors, the Government and national organisations, the foundation ensures money reaches deserving causes.
