A HEREFORDSHIRE village has come together to offer support and raise thousands for the people of Ukraine.
More than 160 people from Ewyas Harold, between Hereford and Abergavenny, attended the event at the village hall and raised a staggering £28,000 for the cause.
Hoping to make £10,000 to donate towards the relief effort, they have so far raised an amazing £28,000 through donations on the day and their Just Giving page.

The event started with a minute’s silence to honour the people that had lost their lives and then a huge round of applause to show support and solidarity with the families left behind in the war-torn country.
A local Ukrainian family then gave a heartfelt thanks to the British people for all the help they were receiving in such difficult circumstances.
Guests enjoyed entertainment including a singing waiter and a promise auction. There was music and dancing and people catching up with friends in what was for some, the first chance to do so at a social event since the Covid lockdown of 2020.

A spokesperson for the organisers of the event said: "We would like to thank everyone who showed such unbelievable support for this event. Hopefully, its success will persuade other villages in the area to follow suit and raise some money for the people of Ukraine.
"A special thank you to all the young volunteers who worked so hard all day to help the event happen. You were all amazing."
