A HEREFORDSHIRE school joined other choirs to sing a classic song to raise money and show support for the people of Ukraine.
Weobley High School joined up with Weobley Primary School and St Paul's Primary from Hereford, to sing John Lennon's Imagine to show their support for the people of Ukraine.
More than 100 people attended the singalong at Weobley High School on Saturday, April 9 including members of local adult choirs.
Joanne Lowry, who is head of music at the school was teaching Year 7 children about the music of the Beatles when the topic of conversation turned to John Lennon.
Ms Lowry said: "We talked about the song "Imagine" and the kids asked if they could listen to it.
"I put the song on and you could hear a pin drop. They were all really moved by it.
"One of the girls said to me afterwards it's crazy that the song is over 50 years old but still so relevant to what is going on today."
Ms Lowry thought that they could possibly do something to help based around the kids learning and singing the song, so put out an appeal on social media for singers of all ages to come and sing the song with them to raise money.
The school rehearsed and performed the song and produced a video of the performance. At time of writing they have raised £1252 for the people of Ukraine. Anyone wishing to donate can do so on the event's JustGiving page.
Ms Lowry said: "I couldn't have wished for it to have gone any better really. I would like to thank everyone who was involved in making the day a success."
Anyone wishing to donate to the Hereford Times' #therewithukraine campaign can do so here.
