HEREFORDSHIRE is set to see a list of celebrities in various festivals and events over the next six months, including chart topping music artists and Herefordshire born stars.

Here’s a list of six celebrities coming to Herefordshire this summer:

Manic Street Preachers

Lakefest, held at Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury, has said rock band Manic Street Preachers will be performing on its mainstage this year.

Manic Street Preachers, also known simply as the Manics, are a Welsh rock band formed in Blackwood in 1986.

The band is made up of lead singer and guitarist James Dean Bradfield, drummer Sean Moore  and Nicky Wire on bass guitar and are known for their songs a Design for Life, Faster, and Motorcycle Emptiness.

Festival director Lee Martin said he was excited to be confirming big names.

"Manic Street Preachers are a stadium band headlining on Saturday night and the biggest band we’ve signed.”

Set to be held from August 11 to 14, Lakefest said it prides itself on creating a "hugely enjoyable, family-friendly festival" where music, entertainment, family activities, fairground rides and creativity come together.

UB40

Reggae and pop band UB40 will also be making an appearance at Lakefest in August.

The band's classic song Red Red Wine, which debuted in 1983, will be performed on the mainstage, alongside I Got You Babe, Kingston Town, and The Way You Do The Things You Do.

Groove Armada

Groove Armada is set to headline on the mainstage – known as the Garden Stage – at Eldorado Festival set at Eastnor Castle.

The duo Andy Cato and Tom Findlay will perform their electronic music with songs including Superstylin’, I See You Baby, and At the River.

HowTheLightGetsIn is also back on June 2 to June 5 in Hay-on-Wye and in this year's line-up the world's bestselling dance acts Groove Armada will be headlining.

Findlay will be playing their electronic music in a DJ set with songs.

The pair have released eight studio albums, four of which have charted in the UK Albums Chart top 50.

220 Kid

220 Kid, who has been championed by BBC Music Introducing in Herefordshire and Worcestershire and played his first gigs in the county, will be at Discotek: Into the Woods in July.

The music star, whose real name is William Graydon, topped the UK singles chart last year with sea shanty track Wellerman, produced alongside Billen Ted for former Scottish postman and social media star Nathan Evans.

The track climbed to the top spot earlier in April 2021 after seven weeks, dethroning Olivia Rodrigo's Drivers Licence after nine weeks at the summit.

The brainchild of Ross Powell, Tom Howell, and Mart Winds, Discotek: Into the Woods says it brings "underground house music to Hereford, with imaginative events and an atmosphere unique to the occasion".

220 Kid said on Instagram: "Really proud of the lads and what they’ve achieved.

"They will be donating a proportion of ticket sales to support the fantastic work of the hospice catch me on the Mas Que Nada main stage."

Wilkinson

Wilkinson will be performing his chart-topping single Afterglow on the Cirque du soul stage at El Dorado festival, set at Eastnor Castle.

Mark Wilkinson, better known by his stage name Wilkinson, is an English record producer, DJ, and remixer, who has released music on RAM Records and Hospital Records, as well as Virgin EMI.

Craig Charles

Another artist set to hit the main stage at El Dorado festival is the early 2000s BBC radio DJ Craig Charles.

Known his time as an actor, including playing the character Lloyd Mullaney on the soap Coronation Street and Dave Lister on sitcom Red Dwarf, he is expected to hit the festival with his funk and soul beats.
