A SEARCH has been launched after a desperately ill dog was found 'abandoned' in a field on the Herefordshire border.
The dog was found by the dog warden with a large, ulcerated, leg tumour at Richard's Castle, the RSPCA said.
The RSPCA has made an appeal to try to find the owner of a dog who had to be put to sleep on welfare grounds at the vets after being brought in by the dog warden.
The black and white Labrador and collie cross type dog, who has no microchip, was found in a small enclosed field in Richard's Castle on April 11. It is suspected that he was abandoned.

The male dog was underweight and had a large ulcerated tumour on his hind leg. If anyone knows where this dog has come from please call 0300 1234 999 quoting reference 845489.
RSPCA inspector Suzi Smith, who is investigating for the animal welfare charity, said: βIt is concerning that someone would allow a dog to get in such a state when he was clearly in need of medical treatment. I would appeal to anyone who knows anything to get in touch.β
