A HEREFORDSHIRE cider company is celebrating 30 years by hosting a festival on its farm this spring.
Gwatkin Cider Farm is a small, family-run and award-winning business, based at Moorhampton Park Farm in Abbey Dore, in the Golden Valley.
As well as keeping livestock, the farm has its own apple and pear orchards that supplies the Gwatkin family with the fruit needed to make their cider and perry.
Set in the rolling hills of the Golden Valley, its farm shop stocks its entire range of 35 ciders and perries, subject to seasonal availability, along with a selection of local beers.
The family harvests, scatters, and presses apples to make cider on vintage mill and press from the 19th century, with managing director Denis Gwatkin at the helm of the business.

In 2009, the family’s cider claimed two awards at the CAMRA National Cider and Perry Championships ceremony in Reading.
The firm won top prize for its Yarlington Mill cider and a further bronze for its Blakeney Red perry.
To celebrate its anniversary, it will be hosting the Golden Valley Vintage and Country Fair.
This will be the first year of the fair, and it will take place on Saturday, June 11.
Golden Valley Classic Show will also be at the fair and will be honouring 2020 ticket prices.
Raptorcare’s falconry display, the friendly miniature railway, cart rides, clay pigeon shooting, terrier show, and Arcklebear Gun Dogs are all also in its line-up.

The vintage vehicles on display will include tractors, motorbikes, classic cars, and the John Fowler steam engine.
Melissa Hollick is pleased to eventually be performing her live vintage music throughout the afternoon, and the Gwatkin barn will be full of creatives rather than cattle, with arts, crafts, local produce and more.
Food and drink will be served throughout the day with a full bar on offer and there is also the option to camp on the farm.
The after-show party will be a dance in the barn at 8pm with music from six-piece live party band Mirrorball.
