TWO people have been arrested after football fans clashed in the middle of a Hereford road.
Police blocked off Widemarsh Street on Friday (April 19) after Hereford FC and AFC Telford fans hurled abuse at one another before the match at Edgar Street.
Telford fans let off a smoke bomb before kick-off, with police also blocking Widemarsh Street around 2.45pm, believed to be so fans could be escorted from the city centre to the ground.
A spokesperson from West Mercia police said: “Officers attended Hereford city centre after receiving reports of public disorder on Widemarsh Street and Edgar Street.
“Two arrests were made, one for violent disorder and another for assaulting an emergency worker.
“No injuries were reported and enquiries are ongoing.”
