A HEREFORDSHIRE pub has become home to an exciting new deli and farm shop in addition to its restaurant and rooms.
In common with many businesses, the Goodwin family found that the recent lockdowns gave them an unexpected opportunity to take a close look at breathing new life into their business.
The Grange, at Mortimer’s Cross near Leominster, has been in the Goodwin family since 2014.
The inn sits on the site of the battle of Mortimer’s Cross, and has now become home to the new deli and shop next to the bar.
Annaly Goodwin said: “We took the time during lockdown to work out how to adapt and move forward with all the challenges everyone was faced with, and decided to take advantage of the extensive floor space in this magnificent building to develop our vision.”
That vision was to create a café and coffee shop that would allow them to support other local business owners, farmers, butchers and food producers.
“It was a labour of love to revamp the building and now we have a coffee shop offering freshly-cooked cakes, brunches, lunches, freshly ground coffee, ice-creams and milk shakes,” said Annaly.
The farm shop is largely stocked from local suppliers, many within a radius of 30 miles to reduce food miles, with new items added regularly.
The deli, meanwhile, is stocked with a range of products, made in the kitchen with the same locally produced ingredients.
