A STRETCH of a major road in Herefordshire will be shut for overnight works for three weeks, National Highways has said.
The company, which manages trunk roads such as the A49 and A40, said it would be carrying out works near Ross-on-Wye from Tuesday, May 10.
National Highways said it would close a section the A40, between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth for road marking, stud renewal and general maintenance works.
It said the westbound stretch from the A49 roundabout to Whitchurch fire station would be closed, as would any gaps in the central reservation and all laybys between Ross-on-Wye and the Welsh border at Ganarew.
For the duration of the works, no vehicles would be allowed to enter of leave either carriageway between the A49 Wilton Roundabout and Ganarew.
Works will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am, a public notice said, but laybys would be closed all the time.
It added police cars, fire engines and ambulances, as well as roadwork vehicles, will still be able to use the road. Access to properties will be maintained.
