A HEREFORDSHIRE road will have a temporary speed limit for five days as a controversial festival goes ahead.
Billed as the world's largest music and philosophy festival, HowTheLightGetsIn will run from Thursday, June 2, until Sunday, June 5, alongside the river Wye just outside Hay-on-Wye.
Herefordshire Council agreed that the festival can run until 1am for three nights, despite local fears of noise and anti-social behaviour.
The organisers of HowTheLightGetsIn sought permission for live music indoors and outdoors, as well as indoor recorded music and “late night refreshment”, until 1am on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and for sale of alcohol until quarter to one each night.

But with revellers heading to the border town, the council will also put a speed restriction in place.
Drivers will not be allowed to go over 20mph in Newport Street, in Hay-on-Wye, as of June 2.
The road sits on the Herefordshire and Powys boundary by the bridge to the entrance to the Glan Wye Business Park.
A spokesperson from Herefordshire Council said it is required due to safety and the likelihood of danger to the public while the festival is taking place.
