EMERGENCY crews have battled a wildfire in Herefordshire and have issued a warning to anyone heading out this bank holiday weekend.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Ledbury, Fownhope, Ross-on-Wye and Hereford station were all sent to the fire in the open near Putley, near Ledbury, this week.
On top of those engines, the water carrier from Leominster and the service drone from Ledbury were also at the scene.
The blaze, reported at at 5.07pm on Monday (April 25), covered around eight hectares and there were multiple seats of fire.
"The incident was sectorised and the fire was fought using the high pressure fogging unit from a fire service LandRover, beaters, water backpacks and one hosereel jet," the spokesperson said.
"There were no casualties and no further emergency services were called."
The drone and thermal imaging camera were used to check for hotspots with the incident closed at 10.56pm, with the fire service now warning the public.
"If you're out in our wonderful countryside this weekend, please take extra care because it's very dry out there," it said.
