A HEREFORDSHIRE based dance group is launching a new initiative this summer to support education, youth and community groups in the county.

Everybody Dance, based in Whitbourne, near Bromyard, is leading the Great Outdoors scheme, a participatory project that involves helping people of different ages who often find themselves excluded from arts experiences.

This includes people with neuro divergences (such as autism), physical, sensory, and learning impairments, those with caring responsibilities and people on low incomes.

The project aims to offer a respite from concerns and worries, through creative activities including aerial dance, singing, drawing, walks, picnics, and by giving people a chance to enjoy nature.

Everybody Dance’s lead artist, Rachel Freeman said: "I wanted Great Outdoors to give people who have less opportunity to take part in the arts a chance to take a break from their everyday routines, immerse themselves in the beautiful countryside, learn new skills and have lots of fun.

"Local groups and schools have jumped at the chance to take part, and we’re now looking for some helpers to help set up beforehand."

Mrs Freeman is asking anyone who has a few hours to spare to get in touch with her.

There are various jobs to do, to set up the spaces ready for participants, including setting up the aerial rig, cleaning a barn area and laying dance mats, ready for the retreat participants.
