Hereford has been named in the top ten of city hotspots for year on year growth in asking prices, according to property website Rightmove.
Many people have reassessed where they want to live since the Covid pandemic started in a so called 'race for space', according to a 2021 report by Nationwide Building Society.
City locations offering easy access to the countryside such as Hereford are quickly becoming property hotspots as are locations near to the coast, as people look to escape to the country.
Bath, in Somerset, is at the top of the list, with asking prices rising more than in any other city.
The average cost of buying a home in the spa city has risen by 15 per cent in a year, to just above £558,000.
Truro in Cornwall is in second, and the resort town of Southend-on-Sea in Essex is third in the table.
Hereford is sixth in the table, with the average asking price of a property in the city rising by 12 per cent to an average of £255,631.
Tim Bannister, property expert for Rightmove said: "Now, we’re still seeing really high buyer demand for these cities, but the number of new homes coming onto the market hasn’t been able to keep up with the buyers enquiring, which has led to asking prices accelerating over the last year."
