Much Birch Primary School is a voluntary controlled Church of England school situated perfectly between the bustling city of Hereford and the market town of Ross-on-Wye.
The school is close to the A49 therefore is the perfect location for parents who are travelling to either areas and for those who live in small villages or hamlets around both the city and the town.
Our distinct Christian values enable children to flourish within our care and reach their full potential.
We work hard to ensure all children leave us with a strong moral compass and the tools to progress in their education and life.
The team at Much Birch work hard to foster a ‘family feel’ for the children and work hard to support the wider community, assisted by a strong PTFA.
We treat others as we would like to be treated – with dignity and respect, and everyone is encouraged to flourish with hope and aspiration.
To be able to ‘flourish’ is a key aspect of the education we provide at Much Birch, as well as the National Curriculum, we also pride ourselves on our bespoke outdoor education.
Every year group has dedicated Forest School lessons weekly which focus on the outdoors, working as a team and education in nature.
Our spiritual, moral, social and cultural curriculum focuses on children: exploring beliefs; respecting others and the surrounding world; recognising right and wrong; understanding consequences; using a range of social skills; helping the community; appreciating cultural influences and celebrating diversity.
We are one form entry meaning one-year-group per class, with seven classes from reception to year six.
Our school has been likened to Dr Who’s Tardis as it looks small from the roadside, but we boast fantastic grounds, including a large Forest school area with fire pit, additional garden, tyre park, two playgrounds (including a netball court) and a huge school field.
Cabin Childcare is based onsite but run separately, they take on children from birth to eleven and provides morning and after-school care should you need it.
Our curriculum drivers are: Possibility, Diversity, Community and Communication – these underpin our Much Birch life.
We love to foster creativity in our children so that they are able to ‘flourish’ in all aspects of life as well as academically.
