A WOMAN in her 60s was killled when the car she was in crashed with a lorry, police have confirmed.
The woman, who has not yet been named, was driving on the M5 at Junction 5 (Droitwich) at the time of the crash today (May 16).
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a woman in her 60s sadly died.
"Thank you to the public for their cooperation during the road closures."
The M5 re-opened at around 7pm having been closed since shortly before 2pm.
At the time the road was closed, superintendent Stuart Bill of West Mercia Police thanked people for their patience while many were still stuck on the motorway.
He said: “The road is currently closed and is likely to remain so well in to the evening while the scene is cleared and investigations take place.
"There are currently long delays on the M5 as well as on surrounding local routes.
“We are working closely with colleagues from the ambulance service, fire service and National Highways to manage the congestion.
“We ask that motorists bear with us and are patient as we manage the incident and work to re-open the road.
"In the meantime, we ask that you please avoid the area and find alternative routes where possible.”
